Central Pennsylvania Energy Research

In partnership with Central Susquehanna Opportunities (CSO), researchers from Temple University are studying how rural communities access and manage energy, especially as families face different economic challenges and opportunities.

This ongoing project includes interviews with Central Pennsylvania residents, local service agencies, and fuel providers to better understand real experiences and needs in our region.

The research is led by Professor Veronica Jacome and Postdoctoral Researcher Salma Elmallah, with support from graduate student Mina Schneck.

This work is made possible through funding from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and Pecan Street, Inc.

Through partnerships with UGI Utilities, Aqua Pennsylvania, and Pennsylvania American Water, PPL Electric Utilities CSO helps residents in our community become more energy efficient and save money on their utility bills.
